Former British Prime Minister John Major has made the news with an idea that deserves a closer look. This is London reports on his comments:

“There seem to be many people who, for reasons that are irrational, dislike the Anglo-Saxon way of life,” he said.

He called for heavier penalties for those who incited violence at this “particularly sensitive time”.

“Always difficult to balance this against freedom of speech but I think, at the moment, it is justifiable to protect the public,” he argued.

Mr Major added: “As far as those who literally spit hate at our country and there are some of them - they spit hate at our country and they incite - I personally would be prepared to deport those where it is clear that what they are doing is causing civil unrest and may cost other people, as a result of that, their lives.”

“But what of civil liberties?,” many will whine. What are these? Well, how about “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”? If people are in fear for their lives because of other people who do not want the American (or “Anglo”) way of life, how do you resolve the conflict? By ridding the country of those who would subvert it.

Article III Section 3 of the United States Constitution defines Treason as “levying War against [the United Statees], or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” In a previous post (I’m with Tancredo) I noted that “Muslim extremism is founded in the mosques and madrassas of Islam.” When hatred of the American way of life is being preached within the borders of our country, we have not only the right but the obligation to root it out and send it packing to the sewers of the world from whence it emerged. If American citizens are involved, charge them with treason (when was the last time you heard of that happening?), try them, and if they’re convicted then implement punishment swiftly and decisively. Alternatively, they can be tried for espionage, sedition, or any number of crimes not limited by the constraints (two witnesses to the same overt act, or confession in open court) entailed by a charge of treason.

The alternative of allowing radical Islam to nurture and flourish on our own soil bears consequences too terrible to allow.
