Sixty-two years ago today, the greatest armada to ever invade a foreign land landed on the beaches of Normandy. It became the beginning of the end for Hitler’s Third Reich, and forever established America as a force to be reckoned with, a force that would help establish freedom and liberty throughout Europe.
My uncle, J.B. Hood, Jr. was in the “pathfinder” force that landed in Normandy the night before D-Day. I salute him, and all the brave men who fought to pursue liberty and defeat a murderous dictator. The same is true for our fighting forces in Iraq and Afghanistan today — I know what they’re fighting for, even if limp-wristed, lilly-livered policitians might sometimes forget.
