For all the bloviating the Democrats have been doing about Republican involvement in the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal, as usual, they’re obfuscating a deeper story. The web site of the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (more popularly known as the House Ethics Committee) reveals that during the last 30 years, 70 members of the House have been investigated for serious offenses. Fifteen of those were Republicans, the remaining 55 were Democrats.
