Man, how lucky am I!
I’m sure by now that you’ve heard the story of how Al Qaeda has posted some “help wanted” ads on Qaeda-friendly web sites. Reuters reports:
The London-based Asharq al-Awsat said on its Web site this week that al Qaeda had “vacant positions” for video production and editing statements, footage and international media coverage about militants in Iraq, the Palestinian territories, Chechnya and other conflict zones where militants are active.
The paper said the Global Islamic Media Front, an al Qaeda-linked Web-based organization, would “follow up with members interested in joining and contact them via email.”
Well I don’t know how I managed it, I must’ve searched, linked, and cross-linked, but somehow I actually found some footage on some obscure site somewhere of an actual audition tape which appears to have been intended for just this purpose. I apologize for not crediting the original site with this find, but in my haste to secure the video (a Right Track exclusive, I’m sure!), I neglected to note the URL.
The video has somewhat unsettled me, because not only does it mention this blog and yours truly by name, but also insinuates threats against the following individuals:
- Publius Rendezvous at Publius Rendezvous
- Cao at Cao’s Blog
- John and Gribbet at StoptheACLU.com
- Real Teen at Right on the Right
At any rate, the help-wanted ads appear to be generating interest, if not results. Spread the word, people. The threat is real, and the threat is growing! How can we fight against propaganda like that which appears in this video?
