I missed last Friday’s Round-Up due to Katrina, but I’ll get started back now!
- I’ve alluded to it at the end of each Round-Up, but I’d like to see Sonny James nominated to the Country Music Hall of Fame within his lifetime. Sonny was a huge hit in Country Music during the 60’s, 70’s, and early 80’s, when he retired from the music business (at least that’s my understanding). The man had 16 consecutive number 1 hits, more than any other artist. Not Elvis, the Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, no one has had that many consecutive number one hits. He was called the Southern Gentleman because that’s what he was. Practically every one of his peers is in the CMHoF, but he is not. Please visit his web site to learn more. I have spoken with and e-mailed his webmaster, Greg Robble (son of former Southern Gentleman — the Southern Gentlemen was the name of Sonny’s band — Gary Robble), and Sonny is doing great. He works out several times a week, even.
- Many people have claimed racism in the wake of Katrina. You won’t believe it.
- They’re incredibly expensive, but if you’ve never been to the Caribbean and had a Tortuga Rum Cake, you really should try one. They’ll ship it right to you!
- I didn’t know that URouLette.com was still around, but they are. These folks will direct you to a random web site with each click. I used them when the Internet was in its infancy!
- Hey, Libs, still having a problem separating truth from fiction in the Bush v. Gore election case? Separate spin from reality, if you dare!
Now that everyone knows, I’ll say it again. Sonny, I hope you make it in your lifetime. You’re first class!
